Hakaya group returned back from Norway 19th of June 2009

Ghirass Cultural Center was invited by (The social workers Trade union in Telemark county), invites the dancing group and leaders/teachers to visit Norway as part of the Cultural Exchange Program between the two partners. This trip was the fifth one to take place in the exchange.

After processing all the necessary documentation and dealing with the difficulties caused by Israel occupation, the trip began on seventh of June 2009, traveling via Jordan to the Norway. The Norwegian visit took place from June 7 until June 19.
The trip included performances of Palestinian folklore (Dabkha dancing and singing) by the Hakaya group. The group visited Skien, Porsgrunn and Oslo.

They were invited to perform Palestinian traditional folkdance in Telemark County.

 Friends of Ghirass in Norway hosted the group and it was a great opportunity to take part in different activities and integrate with Norwegians students in different schools such Visit Stridsklev school as well as the group performed several performances in The theatre festival in Porsgrunn.

There was considerable media coverage of the visit in all three cities and it was an opportunity to present a more positive image of Palestinian culture than is usual in the West.
At the end of the visit, the group returned to Palestine through Jordan, feeling happy and proud of their achievements.

The trip was consisted from 20 persons 16 children age between 10-12 years and four adults (Leader, musician and two supervisors)
