MUSIC SECTION

Music is often thought of as an international language which allows the child to express and communicate his/her thoughts and emotions.

The music section aims to teach, how to appreciate music, listen as well as how to play musical instruments. The child learns about other cultures through different music styles, composers, musicians and also learns about his/her own music culture.

The administration worked hard to develop this section by working with professional teachers who teach music. Those experiences weren't always successful so many music teachers were replaced by new ones. Most of them are theoretically qualified but not always with the suitable pedagogic skills to deal with children.

For the last few years we start a new track in this section by using foreign volunteers who worked in the field of music to work with the children.

Two volunteers from Italy introduced music theory in a practical way, their aim of the weekly sessions is to introduce children to music and musical graphic symbols with a hands-on approach. The children are encouraged to think about the ingredients that are commonly used in music in an analytical and creative way, tackling rhythm and melody. They are invited to spot repetitions, alternations or transformations of musical ideas and to use themselves.

As well as Ghirass Cultural center for two years had a cooperation with Sabreen institute on a program for teaching drums.

This section is considered changeable and that depends on the situation.
